Well the stats are in from last night…apparently there were a whole bunch of you out there standing in line for the midnight showings of New Moon! The film broke the midnight box office record previously held by Harry Potter. According to Summit Entertainment, New Moon brought in a staggering $26.27 million last night -a full $4 million more than Harry Potter.
To put a little perspective on this: The Dark Knight, which went on to gross just over $1 billion in worldwide box office receipts, earned just $18.5 million during its midnight release. If New Moon continues to earn at this pace, it easily to find itself amongst the highest grossing films of all time.
