Remember <em>Tron…that geeky Jeff Bridges movie from 1982? Well Disney is revisiting the story and calling it Tron Legacy. It will still have Jeff Bridges in it, but it looks like director Joseph Kosinski is interested in attracting a much wider audience than the first film did.
The trailer, which is embedded below, was introduced at Comic-Con this year, to much fanfare. Now we’ve got what appears to be the first movie still, as well as the UK-version movie poster, thanks to HeyUGuys.
Synopsis: TRON: LEGACY is a 3D high-tech adventure set in a digital world that’s unlike anything ever captured on the big screen. Sam Flynn (GARRETT HEDLUND), the tech-savvy 27-year-old son of Kevin Flynn (JEFF BRIDGES), looks into his father’s disappearance and finds himself pulled into the digital world of Tron where his father has been living for 25 years. Along with Kevin’s loyal confidant Quorra (OLIVIA WILDE), father and son embark on a life-and-death journey of escape across a visually-stunning cyber universe that has become far more advanced and exceedingly dangerous.
So what do you think? If you haven’t seen the first film, you may not be as excited as I am for Tron Legacy. I would encourage you to watch Tron, but in case you don’t, here’s the gist: “A hacker is literally abducted into the world of a computer and forced to participate in gladiatorial games where his only chance of escape is with the help of a heroic security program.” Expect Tron Legacy in theaters December 17, 2010.
