Disney’s live-action version of The Sorcerer’s Apprentice finally has a trailer online. For all that Nicolas Cage has bemoaned his financial struggles, he sure seems to be a lot of movies lately!
Cage will star as Balthazar Blake, a modern day sorcerer. Alongside Cage will be Monica Bellucci (The Matrix Revolutions), Jay Baruchel, Alfred Molina, and Toby Kebbell. The story is loosely adapted from the Fantasia story - where Mickey Mouse gets himself into all sorts of trouble with a broom and a couple of buckets!
Synopsis: Balthazar Blake (Cage) is a master sorcerer in modern-day Manhattan trying to defend the city from his arch-nemesis, Maxim Horvath (Molina). Balthazar cant do it alone, so he recruits Dave Stutler (Baruchel), a seemingly average guy who demonstrates hidden potential, as his reluctant protégé. The sorcerer gives his unwilling accomplice a crash course in the art and science of magic, and together, these unlikely partners work to stop the forces of darkness. It will take all the courage Dave can muster to survive his training, save the city and get the girl as he becomes The Sorcerer’s Apprentice.
