About a week ago E! Online did a story on Megan Fox and why she thinks women don’t like her. The Transformers’ star has already secured a spot amongst Hollywood A-listers, and despite the fact Jennifer’s Body flopped at the box office, she’s still pretty bankable (Transformers 1 & 2 combined took in over $1.5 BILLION at the box office). So when she lamented about her status as a sex symbol to E! Online and says she’ll be changing foxy ways, I was somewhat inclined to believe her.
“I have to pull back a little bit now,” Megan says at the end of the [New York Times Magazine] article. “I do live in a glass box. And I am on display for men to pay to look at me. And that bothers me. I don’t want to live that character.”
And then the outtake pictures get released from that New York Times Magazine photo shoot. Her own handlers are concerned about her media image, and yet they allow pictures like these to be taken.
Sweetheart…women hate you because you flaunt your sexuality and beauty for their boyfriends and husbands to lust over. As she told Entertainment Weekly back in June, “I come across as confident and they [other women] assume that means that I think I’m hot sh–. And that makes them feel bad about themselves and so they hate me.”
I guess I just don’t quite understand Megan Fox. From what I’ve read, she wants to be taken seriously as a real actress. She doesn’t just want to be a sex figure in movies, and wants to do real acting. She also says she wants to change the way women look at her. Pictures like these aren’t going to help her cause.
Just to clear it up, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with the pictures of Megan Fox. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with a woman who wants to be sexual, wear revealing clothes or flaunt her beauty. We are all given our various gifts, and we get to choose how to use them. But it just seems like Ms. Fox wants to head in one direction, but ultimately makes choices taking her in another direction.
