There’s an early movie trailer out for the upcoming dramedy Solitary Man. The cast is stacked in this one: Michael Douglas, Jesse Eisenberg (Adventureland), Jenna Fischer (The Office), Susan Sarandon, Danny DeVito, and Mary-Louise Parker (Weeds).
Synopsis: Ben Kalmen (Michael Douglas) is feeling his age, but you wouldn’t know it from the company he keeps. A former mogul with a chain of car dealerships, until legal troubles knocked him out of business, Ben now keeps a grip on the world through his relationships with women… many women. Now his his career and marriage are disintegrating due to his business and romantic indiscretions.
I’ve really grown to like Eisenberg as an actor. He was great in The Squid and the Whale, and Adventureland pretty much only enjoyable because of him. He fit perfectly alongside Woody Harrelson in Zombieland. I’m a little concerned that Eisenberg will fall into the shadows of Douglas’ character. Douglas is not Harrelson, and Douglas appears to command a good chunk of the story in Solitary Man. Hopefully after the success of Adventureland, Eisenberg can start landing some more prominent roles!
