There’s a new romantic comedy that’s brewing in Columbia Picture’s cauldron, and surprise, surprise - Jennifer Aniston’s name is attached to it. Both Aniston and Adam Sandler are in talks for Pretend Wife, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The script is written by Allan Loeb and Tim Dowling and was once known as “Holiday in Hawaii.” Plot details are being kept under wraps, so there’s no juicy details where Sandler and Aniston could end up in the film. Columbia is said to be eying a February 11, 2011 release date.
Personally, I like Aniston. She’s a decent actress, attractive, and generally brings in respectable box office numbers. But the problem with Aniston is that she rarely reaches for a role outside of her rom-com comfort zone. Could it be that’s all she’s good at? Is she simply so typecast from her days in Friends that audiences don’t like seeing her in a serious role?
Aniston has at least two romantic comedies lined up for 2010 - The Bounty, and The Baster. But, according to IMDb, she’s also associated with The Goree Girls, which is categorized as a drama/musical. Maybe we’ll get the chance to see Aniston is a new type of role!
