This is our third newsletter for affiliate managers about upcoming marketing opportunities with Shopping-Bargains.com. We’re implementing our Q4 plans and slotting options. We’ve also launched our “Think Pink” section for products devoted to raising money to fight breast cancer. Get the details below.

As stated in our last newsletter, we launched our initial Christmas marketing push on October 1 and will run it up to Christmas Day. It is small-scale now and designed to capture the interest of early shoppers who want to get all their holiday shopping done before December.
Again reviewing, we still have a variety of options for special placement on the homepage, the department and subdepartment pages, and our “Christmas Gift Guide” landing page. We have prepared a special document about these options along with slotting fees for enhanced brand positioning. Key positions are filling up fast so please let me know if you want any of them before they are gone.

What We Offer: New Marketing Newsletter Features
About 2 weeks ago I signed a contract with ExactTarget to enhance our email newsletter (not this one but our marketing one). ExactTarget specializes in permission-based email marketing software that allows us to customize our newsletters to the individual preferences of our subscribers. Each email is individually created for each subscriber.
In conjunction with ExactTarget’s system, we are working to integrate our future offers into some 30 categories that subscribers can request — specific categories like Kids & Toys, Beauty, Home Improvement, Women’s Clothing, Electronics, and Outdoor Recreation to name a few.
We’re aiming for a mid-October launch date. We’re busy testing now; however, when we launch we are going to be doing a series of weekly prize awards for our subscribers. I have a few spots left if you want to be prominently promoted as the prize sponsor. Popular prizes are gift certificates or favorite products (doesn’t have to be expensive). Let us know if you have something available to offer as a prize.
One quick note about the newsletter. It is entirely made up from opt-in subscribers who visited our site. We did not buy or co-register names. As for offers, all (except for the sponsor) links in our newsletter go to special landing pages on Shopping-Bargains.com first so the user can get full details before clicking our affiliate link. We also can exclude stores who don’t approve of email.

We’re excited about our growth prospects with the newsletter and Q4. We’re finishing up some enhancements on our department and subdepartment pages as well as our internal search engine. I welcome your suggestions for ways to improve. Some form of data feed integration is being planned as well.
As mentioned in the last newsletter, we’re also looking into creating a “welcome kit” to physically mail to all new newsletter subscribers who opt to receive it and give us their postal address. We’re looking for sponsors to provide samples, inserts, etc. to go with our other gifts from us (valued around $5) so please contact me if this is something that your company would be interested in working with.
We’re also planning some press releases so if you would like a mention or have some media suggestions then please let me know. If you are looking for an affiliate to mention or a quote then please contact me also to see if we can work together and better help each other out.
