Here’s a first look, albeit a small one, at the movie poster for the upcoming Charles Darwin biography Creation. Jennifer Connelly stars alongside her real-life husband, the increasingly bankable Paul Bettany (A Beautiful Mind, Iron Man 2) in a tale about a naturalist who struggles to find a balance between his revolutionary theories on evolution and the relationship with religious wife, whose faith contradicts his work.
The film will also focus on Darwin’s relationship with his eldest daughter ‘Annie’, as the author struggled to document his radical theories in the book “On the Origin of Species”, published in 1859. Considered the foundation of evolutionary biology, the book introduces the theory that populations evolve over the course of generations through a process of ‘natural selection’ and that the diversity of life arose by common descent through a branching pattern of evolution. Darwin backed up his theories with evidence gathered on his ‘Beagle’ sea voyage expedition during the 1830’s and subsequent findings from research, correspondence and experimentation.
The movie comes out Jan. 22, 2010, but I wouldn’t expect an über-wide release…not for a “controversial” film like this one. Below are the first two different posters for the film.
